Naturalization Once the 'green card' has been held for 5 year or 3 years if married to a US citizen, naturalization may be applied for. Naturalization will give the applicant all the priveledges of US citizen has including travelling with a US passport, the right to vote and to make immigrant applications for immediate relatives. Applications can be filed 3 months prior to the requisite times given above. The application requires fingerprinting, a medical and an interview which will include questions being asked on the US Government and US history, together with an English writing test.
